The Sunday School Literacy Program

Our annual literacy project, organised in partnership with several churches, including the Holy Cross Cathedral, is dedicated to improving adult literacy within local communities. Spanning 6 to 9 weeks, this program provides a comprehensive and structured curriculum specifically designed to address the unique needs of adult learners.

The primary objective of the program is to enhance participants' reading, writing, and comprehension skills, helping them gain greater confidence in their ability to navigate daily life and access new opportunities. Through a series of engaging lessons and hands-on learning experiences, the program empowers individuals to break down barriers to literacy, enabling them to make more informed decisions, improve their employment prospects, and engage more fully with their communities.

Beyond academics, the program fosters a supportive and inclusive learning environment where adult learners are encouraged to share their experiences and collaborate with others. By integrating practical applications of literacy, such as reading everyday documents, writing letters, or improving digital literacy, we ensure that participants can immediately apply what they learn to real-world situations.

As the program concludes, we celebrate the progress made by each participant, highlighting their achievements and reinforcing the transformative power of education. Through this initiative, we aim to not only improve literacy but also uplift the lives of adult learners, providing them with the tools to lead more empowered, independent, and fulfilling lives.
